The marginalization dimension of laughing and mocking especially leads to humiliation of the person who is laughed at, emphasizing that the other person is abnormal. Therefore, it has become almost inevitable that the insane, who go beyond the idealized structure, should be handled in the context of humor and ridicule. A similar process is also the subject of the cinema, and in the cinema, the forms of laughing and mocking, especially for the characters who are exposed to the discourse of insanity, are frequently featured. In this study, the movie Vizontele, determined by the criterion sampling method, was analyzed by multi-modal critical discourse analysis. As a result of this analysis, it was revealed that Emin's character, who was exposed to the discourse of insanity, was exposed to humiliating and condescending expressions, along with laughter and mockery, because he did not conform to the social order and exhibited abnormal behaviors. However, in the analyzed film, it has been seen that the representations of insanity are used to show situations that are seen as contrary to the order in a society rather than psychiatric problems, and the representations of insanity are based on negative cultural definitions.
